I had a wonderful opportunity to help people build their dream homes in a small gated community with single level living and yardcare.  Most everyone who came to this community were empty nesters with homes that were too big, had too much yard work involved, or too many stairs for them with various health concerns. After speaking with dozens of people I quickly realized the need seniors have for finding a professional to assist them in selling their homes and helping them transition to something easy to manage. 

As I was working with seniors in the new build community my own parents were having difficulties. They had an extremely large home with a lot of stairs. My father had been having difficulties getting around with back and knee problems and on some occasions had to sleep in the family room as he was unable to get upstairs to the shower and bedrooms. He was very overwhelmed and at most times did not want to move as he was very emotionally invested in his home. Finally he realized the yardcare , size of the home and amount of stairs was just too difficult for him to manage. I assisted him from beginning to end in getting the house ready to sell and helped my parents get into a home with single level living and paid yardcare. Although it was a difficult move for them my father has said several times "I wish I had done this sooner." He has access to his bedroom, bathroom, shower and even an office on the main floor that he uses to sculpture.

Now that he is using a walker I am so happy we moved him when we did! His knees have just been getting worse and I can't imagine what his life would be like if he had stayed in his home. I love seeing how the transition has helped my own father and I am determined to help others get the courage they need  to make that decision and make the process go smoothly from beginning to end and ultimately improving their quality of life.
